Bitcoin is programmable money, limitless and global by design. There are several ways to send and receive bitcoin; they're open to you no matter where you are in the world, your country, or your current financial situation.
The most common way to send and receive bitcoin is through a Bitcoin wallet like NOAH. At NOAH, we trim the fat associated with your typical online banking experience so that you can focus on what matters most: your money.
Here are all the ways you can send and receive bitcoin with NOAH:
Sending from NOAH to an external partner over the Lightning Network — NOAH never charges fees to send or receive your money. Whenever your bitcoin leaves your NOAH wallet, it's free and virtually instantaneous.

Lightning Address
The simplified and user-friendly successor to the Lightning Invoice, a Lightning Address allows you to receive bitcoin without generating a new QR code each time. Lightning Address does away with long, alphanumerical strings in favor of an email-like address. So instead, you can send and receive bitcoin to John@NOAH.me (yes, we even have our own Lightning Domain). Lightning Address is still the same Lightning Network; it's just way easier to use. Lightning Address brings ultimate simplicity and convenience to sending and receiving bitcoin.
Sending from external partner to NOAH
Sending from an external partner to NOAH over the Lightning Network — We don't have influence over any app but our own, so we can't control any fees they might charge. Bitcoin companies are usually pretty good about not charging exorbitant fees, but some may tack on fees for various transactions. However, when you receive money into your NOAH wallet from an external partner, we don't add any charge whatsoever — not a single sat.
Lightning Invoice
A Lightning Invoice is a unique single-use QR code that allows you to request payment in bitcoin. It's set up to accept a pre-determined amount of bitcoin and expires after a specific time. Lightning Invoices are helpful if you're selling goods or services and need a quick, easy way to request an exact payment. Lightning Addresses are similar to Lightning Invoices.
Sending and receiving Lightning payments with another party
The best thing about Lightning Network is that it's trustless and decentralized so anyone can use it. NOAH doesn't control who you can and can't send money to; that power lies solely in your hands. So you're in complete control of your finances when you use NOAH, and you can send and receive bitcoin with anyone with a Lightning wallet.Sending and receiving bitcoin on-chain
NOAH optimizes for optionality, so we enable you to send your bitcoin on-chain if you need to. While this takes a little longer than sending over the Lightning Network, it's still an excellent way to send and receive your bitcoin. The only fees you pay are the ones imposed by the Bitcoin network. We prefer Lightning because it's faster and cheaper, but what you do with your bitcoin is up to you — not us.Buying and selling bitcoin with Moonpay
We've partnered up with Moonpay so that you can buy and sell bitcoin directly from your NOAH wallet with your debit or credit card. Moonpay is an industry-leading bitcoin-purchasing and selling platform integrated directly into NOAH, so buying and selling bitcoin is as easy as a few clicks. The best part? Moonpay deposits the bitcoin directly into your NOAH wallet, so you don't have to worry about transferring it yourself. And if you sell, the proceeds go straight to your bank account — again, no need to worry about moving the money yourself.
What you can do with Bitcoin is only limited by your imagination. The beauty of Bitcoin is that sending and receiving payments is censorship-resistant, so you can use it however you see fit. It's an exciting time to be involved in the space, and we're just getting started. See for yourself how easy it all is in the NOAH app.
